Women’s Soccer on Fire

Posted by koloj33 on November 7, 2008

The Rowan University women’s soccer team is having one of their best seasons ever. They finished their regular season with a record of 13-0-2, and a record of 7-0-2 in their conference, the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC). This remarkable season has given them the 2nd seed in the NJAC tournament, and has given them a first round bye.

They played their first match of the tournament against the number three seed, The College of New Jersey, on Wednesday, November 5th. They won the semi-final match by a score of 3-1. Their next game is against the #1 seed in the NJAC tournament, Richard Stockton College, and that game is the championship of the tournament. The game will be played at Stockton, which is located in Pomona, NJ, at 1pm on Saturday.

Although i’m sure that most of you reading this don’t have a car around campus, I highly recommend that you find a way to go support your fellow Profs. It’s less than an hour away from Rowan, and I’m sure there’s some way you will be able to find a ride. I’ve been to a few of the women’s soccer games this season, and each one was definately very exciting and full of energy. I can’t even imagine the intensity that the players must be feeling. This is a very big rivarly, and it will most definately be a game to remember.

Go Profs.

Phillies “Phever” Takes Over Rowan

Posted by koloj33 on October 30, 2008

“The 0-2 pitch SWING AND A MISS! STRUCK HIM OUUUTTTT!!! THE PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES ARE 2008 WORLD CHAMPIONS OF BASEBALL!!!”  were the words of Harry Kalas after the Game 5, 4-3 victory over the Rays.

After the Phillies won the game on Wednesday night, the student body of Rowan University erupted.  High fives were given left and right, hugs were given to all, and tears were shed.  In South Jersey, the Philadelphia Phillies are the biggest sports team around.  Seeing as I was born in Philadelphia, and have lived in South Jersey almost my entire life, this is obviously a huge deal for me.

Thursday morning, as I walked to class, I could see red t-shirts, hoodies, and hats in every direction.  It seemed as if nobody had a care in the world.  The Phillies win just made this school year one that Rowan students will remember forever.  This is a HUGE deal for Phillies fans at Rowan, and I feel awful for all of you Yankees/Mets fans from North Jersey… NOT.  This is South Jersey, and in South Jersey, we are Phillies fans, sorry to disappoint you.  This victory will without a doubt make the remainder of this semester a lot less stressful for myself, and I guarantee i’m not the only person at Rowan who feels this way.

The Phillies won the World Series.  Let it sink in Phil’s fans.
